The first lecture IN5570/IN9570

Welcome to the course Distributed Objects IN5570/IN9570.

The first lecture will be Thursday 26/01-2023 at 10:15am in Shell, OJD1456.

The course is about distribution done using OBJECT.

Think Java object that you can move between machines, and where you from one object can call a method in another object on a remote machine without bothersome syntax.

All of this done in a OO language designed for distribution.

You will, during the course, develop and run a number of distributed programs - and run them on in a real distributed system using a world-wide teaching platform called Planetlab, so you WILL be sending objects to other continents :-)

Show up at the first lecture, and I will introduce you to the fun that you will have in this course :-)

Be warned: there is some theory, but it is a learning-by-doing course where you will be doing a lot of programming - and learning from your hands-on experience with a truly world-wide distributed system.

See you Thursday!

Sincerely, Eric
