Beat controlled motion floor
Elevates your emotions - by elevating you

1) My own topic
This topic has taken form through talks with Mats. We believe that the musical experience in a club setting would be richer and more fun by having a floor that bounces or moves in time with the music, especially EDM music. So this project aims to make a prototype of such a floor. This design will probably be 1 by 1 meter in size, and the up and down motion limited to 1 cm. We believe this motion is enough to bring forth the desired feelings in the music participant/listener.
The floor will consist of a top plate to stand on, two driveshafts that rotates an off-center piece that is mounted inside a bearing. This bearing is held in place by a housing witch in turn is mounted on the top plate. This mechanism makes the top plate move up and down due to the off center piece. These to driveshafts is turned using a BLDC motor that is driven through a motor controller. This controller is in turn controlled by an Arduino Uno.
More details to come.
2) Goals
My goals:
I want my robotic floor to travel approximatly 1 cm smoothly up and down along til y-axis. Furthermore i want this construction to lift at least 100kg, and be stable in x- and y-direction. My final goal is to controll the floor with a music beat sent to the floor controller through an audio channel making it bounce like the floor in Rockefeller.
3) Sketch
Preliminary sketch of the system
4) Bill of materials
Create a table with the most important components for your setup.
