IN9100 – Selected Topics in Rewriting Logic
Course description
Course content
This course deals with selected advanced topics in rewriting logic and formal methods such as metaprogramming, real-time systems and probabilistic systems. Examples of the use of rewrite logic for formal modeling and analysis of applications such as transport protocols, web browsers and data security, cloud-based databases and transaction management, biochemical processes, cognitive processes, flight systems and semantics and analysis of standard programming and modeling languages.
Learning outcome
After taking this course:
- have knowledge of formal modeling and analysis of systems in domains such as: browsers transport protocols, cloud-based transaction systems, biochemistry, psychology, computer systems for aircraft, and/or semantics and analysis of standard modeling and programming languages
- have knowledge of meta-programming
- have knowledge of modeling and analysis methods for real-time and probabilistic systems
- be able to read and understand scientific articles
- be able to present scientific articles
Admission to the course
PhD candidates from the University of Oslo should apply for classes and register for examinations through Studentweb.
If a course has limited intake capacity, priority will be given to PhD candidates who follow an individual education plan where this particular course is included. Some national researchers’ schools may have specific rules for ranking applicants for courses with limited intake capacity.
PhD candidates who have been admitted to another higher education institution must apply for a position as a visiting student within a given deadline.
