Last informations (since I got now similar questions 3 times already):

      - the exam is written, not oral (and previous version of analogous
exams are available (at the courses web-page....)

      - the exam is ``open book'', you can bring ``printed material'' if
you want  (``tilltate hjelpemidler: Alle trykte og
            skrevne.'')

      - it's not an electronic exam.

      - official information can be found (as usual) under

            http://www.uio.no/studier/emner/matnat/ifi/INF5110/v18/eksamen/index.html

Hi,

for those who want to deepen principles of compilers in their master study,

next semester (autumn 2018) there will be ``selected topic in static analysis''. It concentrates on the semantic phase (``static analysis'') and it's a bit more advanced (with an oral exam).

The course web-page is

/studier/emner/matnat/ifi/IN5440/

(before a re-organization, the course number had been INF5906, but now it's IN5440)

Hi, I added also a collection of older exams. M.

For the code generation part, I uploaded a ``notat'', which is

selected pages from the old Dragon book.

Slides chap 10 are uploaded. The typos in the first informal version of the code generation has been repaired (l instead of L, l_y instead of y').

The script-version will follow. Martin

Hi, as announced Monday, today there is no lecture.

Publisert 7. mars 2018 14:54

As mentioned: coming monday no lecture.

Besides that: today, there was a discussion of whether a solution I sketched for exercise 3.3 had an error. Yes, the solution on the slide was wrong (as in previous years, but so far, no one had complained yet.....)

The proposed solutions published later will repair it.

Publisert 7. mars 2018 10:24

I uploaded new documents in the exercises folder. M.

Publisert 6. mars 2018 15:13

the recent 2 chapters have now also been transformed to the core

compact format with some addition remarks added here and there.

Today was a a discussion about a not-too-relevant footnote about the origin of Lisp-parentheses.

I did not surf too much, but here's some finds: the quotes of some

original paper in the following link

http://www.gigamonkeys.com/book/syntax-and-semantics.html'

seems to confirm what I said (namely that it was planned to add M-expression to the lisp S-expressions) but it never came around (or never gained acceptance).

The following one discusses that List-expressions are just a representation of ASTs

Hi, I uploaded some hints (plus some ``discussion'') for exerce one. For a good solution at an exam, not so much text and explanations would generally be required, but I added some here.

There was a missing line in the definition of regular languages in the handout. (In the slides it was ok). But that has been repaired on the handout as well.
