A solution for the 2013 exam has now been posted under "Assignments and exercises".
We have made a detailed list of what is expected at the exam at the page called "Detailed curriculum". Good luck with the exams,
Lilja og Jan Tore
We will meet in room Java (not the ordinary room)! We will solve the exercises from the exam in 2013, and - if time permits - exercises from 2011. Also, prepare questions. Both lecturerers wil be present.
Observe, this session does not show up in the ordinary time schedule, but it does on the syllabus page. And there will be a class!
- The last ordinary lecture was Monday 16 Nov.
- There will be a lab session Tursday 19 Nov. on Collocations
- There will be a class on exam exercises with both teachers in room Java, Monday 30 Nov.
Template solutions are now available on the servers in /projects/nlp/...
We have considered the more difficult parts in the two last Monday lectures, Jan Tore
The last part of the obligatory assignment on SRL is now out. Note that the assignment as a whole is due November 13th 23:59, when you should submit a written report and an excerpt of your data (see the assignment for more information). The group session on Thursday will be devoted to oblig 3b.
The first part of the final obligatory assignment is now out and will be the topic for our group session on Thursday. The second part of the assignment will be out next week and the deadline for the whole assignment is November 13th. I strongly recommend that you start working on this assignment as soon as possible.
As some of you may have noticed the treebanks we use in the obligatory assignment implement somewhat different annotation schemes (PoS tags, dependency labels). You can find more information about these annotation schemes here:
- Danish: in the CoNLL data distribution data/doc/html/index.html (Theory -> Edge classes)
- Swedish: in the CoNLL data distribution data/doc/html/
- Portuguese: Floresta Sintactica (-> Grammatical categories)
- Dutch: in the CoNLL data distribution (data/doc/syn_prot.pdf) Unfortunately only in Dutch..
The obligatory assignment about dependency parsing is now out, deadline October 23rd.
For those of you who do not have any background in linguistics (more specifically in syntax) we recommend that you prepare for next week's lecture by reading the background reading proposed on the Syllabus page under "Language and linguistics" (either Manning & Schütze or Jurafsky & Martin).
All of you should prepare by reading the proposed background reading for the next lecture on Dependency Grammar provided on the Syllabus page.
I have got some questions regarding exactly what is expected of the deliveries. I have uploaded an additional version of the assignments where I have made that clearer.
The lecture which should take place Monday 7 Sept is moved to Thursday 10 Sept in room Java. No group this week.
The group session is moved since we will not use computers.
The dealine has been reset to Friday 18 Sept. The assignment will be published Friday 4 Sept.
