INF3300 – Digital image analysis
Course description
Course content
Digital images and their properties. Data structures for image analysis. Construction of 2D and 3D filters for image enhancement and analysis. Segmentation and description of objects in images. Pattern recognition. Supervised and unsupervised classification.
Learning outcome
The student will bet a basic understanding of concepts, methods and applications of image analysis, pattern recognition, and image classification.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
In addition to fulfilling the Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:
- Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)
The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about special admission requirements (in Norwegian).
INF1010 – Object oriented programming (continued)/INF101 and MAT1100 – Calculus/MAT100.

10 credits with INF4300 – Digital image analysis (continued) and 9 credits with INF 269
Teaching
The course comprises 2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of exercises per week.
Examination
The grade (A-F) is based on an oral or written exam (70%) and on the results of a mandatory project exercise (30%).
Resit an examination
This subject does not offer new examination in the beginning of the subsequent term for candidates who withdraw during an ordinary examination or fail an ordinary examination. Other
Note that the first lecture is compulsory. The subject is regarded equal to INF269 and INF4300 when practicing exam regulations.
