You can consult this page (Norwegian version) for information about exams at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. A description of criteria for the grade pass/fail is given here.
It is now decided that the exam set for the home exam in MAT4450 will be made available in Inspera on June 12 at 09.00 am, cf. the exam web-page. Answers will have to be submitted as one PDF file in Inspera within June 19, 09.00 am. This PDF-file can consists of scanned handwritten pages, or be produced from a TeX-file or any other kind of file. If you use Word, it is important that you make the file become anonymous, as described in these guidelines.
It is not necessary to include your candidate number or the course code in your file. This will be done atomatically after it has submitted in Inspera.
The exam set for the home exam will be published in Inspera on June 12. Answers will have to be submitted as one PDF file in Inspera within June 19. The precise time will be published within May 15.
Due to the special events this spring, the final exam in MAT4450 will be organized as a 7-day individual home exam with all aids allowed. The tasks will be similar to a mandatory task. Collaboration will not be considered cheating, but you must have formulated and written the answer that is submitted, and it should reflect your understanding of the syllabus. The grade will be pass/fail, and the limit for passing will be 40% (like E at the regular exam). The exam set will be published in Inspera at a certain date and time (not yet decided) in the period June 1-12, and answers will have to be submitted as one PDF file in Inspera within the same time 7 days later. The chosen date and time for the release of the exam set in Inspira will be published as a message on the web-page of MAT4450 within May 15. The faculty works on solutions for students who may not have access to a computer/network.
The compulsory assignment is now available here (or in the Files-folder). It has to be handed in via Canvas within April 27, 2.30 pm.
Lecture notes will be uploaded on Tuesdays and Fridays in the teaching schedule. As usual, new exercise sets will be made available each week-end. The compulsory assignment is planned to be ready next week (but remember that you can already find three of the exercises among the previous exercise sets). The deadline will truly be April 27.
Contact me via Skype as agreed if you have questions. Best regards, Erik
Due to the epidemic situation, the Institute has decided to cancel all lectures and teaching activities in classroom until Easter. Lecture notes for each lecture will instead be made available in the teaching schedule. Exercise sets will also be proposed. I plan to have office hours to be answer individual questions, but it is not yet clear if such a solution willl be considered as acceptable
Here is a list of the topics covered so far this spring (p. Mars 3).
Simon Foldvik (simon at math.uio.no), Henrich Neumann (hanshne at math.uio.no), Eirik Kielland (eirik.kielland at gmail.com) and Stian B. S?isdal (stians at math.uio.no).
I will usually give an exercise set every week on Thursdays (available via a link in the schedule, and in the "files"-folder)). A sketch of the solutions for most of the exercises will be made available on Fridays the week after.
