The exam is run using Zoom. The grade will pass/fail, and the limit for passing will be 40% (like E at the regular exam). As usual, more detailed information on completion will be closer to the exam.
Do not hesitate to contact Atle, Karoline or Martin if you have any questions regarding the course. Also, keep in touch with your supervisor and fellow students!

It is not possible to pick up any physical material from the library. You have access to electronic literature through Oria. If you are unable to find or get access to specific literature, please send an e-mail to realfagsbibl@ub.uio.no.

There is no more organised teaching in this course until the help desk sessions in April. In the meantime, you can get help at the oracle sessions:
- 12:15-14:00 on Tuesdays in room 107, Niels Henrik Abels hus,
- 12:15-14:00 on Wednesdays in room 108, Niels Henrik Abels hus.
While the oracles are not familiar with your particular project, they can help you with writing issues and LaTeX.
The mandatory assignment is due February 20th. There was a typo in a former version of the file.
Groups with schedule for the oral presentation can be found in Canvas. Please let me know if you cannot find it. All students in MEK3200 present the oral assignment during the group session on March 2nd.

In the group session on Monday February 10th, you will peer review each other's mandatory assignment draft. Please bring three printed copies of your draft.
NB: The session is moved to room 819 in Niels Henrik Abels hus.
The source file used in today's lecture is now posted with comments. You must compile the LaTeX introduction yourself, and you should switch between reading the source code and the compiled PDF. There are links to online resources at the end of the file.
The mandatory assignment has been published. Remember to discuss the topic of your mandatory assignment with your supervisor.
Due to collision with MAT2250, the lectures have been moved to 10:15-12:00 on Fridays.
In this course, you are required to write the mandatory assignment and the final project using TeX and friends. For that you need a TeX distribution. We recommend TeX Live, which is suitable for Mac, Windows and Linux. You also need an editor.
You can avoid the installation by using an online editor, such as Overleaf.
LaTeX is available on the computers belonging to the Department of Mathematics.
The three project work courses MAT2000, MEK3200 and STK-MAT2011 share common lectures in the beginning of the semester. These are primarily led by Karoline and Martin. In addition, each course has a course leader:
- MAT2000: Tuyen
- MEK3200: Atle
- STK-MAT2011: Gudmund
The course leaders are responsible for pairing students with supervisors, and grading the oral presentation of the mandatory assignment and the final exam.
The first few weeks consist of lectures on generic writing and research skills. The learning outcome of the lectures is tested in a short written mandatory assignment graded by Karoline and Martin, followed by an oral presentation in front of the course leaders.
The majority of the semester is spent working on a project with a supervisor. This culminates in a paper and an oral exam.
