The two obligs, and all homework problems given, are important.
The entire compendium is curriculum, except:
- The Fresnel integrals in section 2.7.
- The detailed derivation of the Nonlinear Shallow Water equations in section 2.10.
- Frobenius series expansions of Bessel functions in section 2.10.
- Use of complex contour integration in section 5.2.
- Sections 7.1 and 7.2.

Homework problems not given may be useful although should not be considered curriculum.
The treatment of WKB approximation and ship wake may appear quite different in the compendium and in my lecture notes. I strongly recommend the presentation in my lecture notes.
The material on Stokes waves and Stokes drift is recommended as general knowledge of waves, but is not the target curriculum of the course.
In general, the following guidelines apply in courses at the Department of Mathematics:
- The examination lasts 4 hours. In addition, you will have an extra 30 minutes to scan and upload your PDF.
- All examination aids are allowed (e.g. books, online resources, scientific programming tools, etc.).
