MEK4490 – Project in Fluid Mechanics
Course content
The project topic can be from all areas of fluid mechanics and the work with the project report will usually be a supervised preproject for a master thesis.
Learning outcome
After completing the course you know how to:
- find and familiarize with relevant literature;
- write and structure a short project report;
- present a project orally.
Admission to the course
To take this course you must have been enrolled in one of the following study programs:
- Master?s program in Mathematics
- Master?s program in CS: Mechanics
- Field of study Realfag in Lektorprogrammet

Recommended previous knowledge
MEK2200 – Continuum Mechanics and MEK3230 – Fluid Mechanics
Teaching
The duration of the course is one semester. The study is based on individual work and supervised by one or more supervisors (internal/external).
Examination
Project assignment with an oral presentation which counts 100 % towards the final grade.
When writing a project assignment make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules for use of sources and citations. Breach of these rules may lead to suspicion of attempted cheating.
Language of examination
Subjects taught in English will only offer the exam paper in English.
You may write your examination paper in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F is a fail. Read more about the grading system.
Resit an examination
Students who can document a valid reason for absence from the regular examination are offered a postponed examination at the beginning of the next semester.
Re-scheduled examinations are not offered to students who withdraw during, or did not pass the original examination.
