Good job on the exam everyone! The exams have now been graded, and you will find a copy of the exam text here and a solution proposal here.

Also, I would greatly appreciate if you could take a few minutes to fill out this online course evaluation form. Your feedback are extremely important and will help me when preparing future versions of the course.

Have a nice and relaxing Christmas break!

Note that there will be no permitted support/aid material for the exam (and the exam has also been made with this in mind). Also, I will do a lecturer's round sometime in the beginning of the exam. So, I would recommend you to read through all the problems in the beginning. Then, if there is some problem for which you are unsure about what you are supposed to do, you can ask me to clarify during the round.

Good luck tomorrow!

Dear students,

unfortunately, Johan and I need some more time to correct the second mandatory assignments. We will inform you here once we have completed the correction. If you have questions regarding our comments and remarks, please write us an email.

Best regards,

Timo

I have now put together a list of the material that will be included in the syllabus for the exam. You find it under resources below the message board. In terms of the type of exam, the format will be similar to previous years. There will be a focus on problems where you are expected to describe various concepts, methods, equations, figures, and so on, but there will also be some more "technical" problems where you are asked to derive, show, formulate something mathematically.

I have collected the exams from earlier years along with solution proposals (or sketches thereof) here. Note that not all problems are necessarily relevant for this year's version of the course due slight changes in the covered material.

The second mandatory assignment is now available here. The report should be submitted through Canvas and the deadline for submission is November 2 at 14:30. Note that there is only one attempt(!) to pass the assignment and you need to make a genuine effort to solve the problems in order to pass. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about the assignment.

Maham Iftikhar and Rayyan Syed have kindly volunteered to be the student representatives for the course (see below the message board for e-mail addresses). If you have any feedback or comments about the course (lectures, exercise classes etc), you may contact any of them, and tehy can then pass it on to me anonymously. You may of course also contact me directly. All constructive feedback is very welcome!

The first set of exercise problems has now been added to the "Weekly exercises"-page. Solutions to the exercises will be presented on the exercise class next week. I strongly recommend that you take a look at problems beforehand and try to solve at least a few of them before class.

Also, I have updated the second set of lecture slides after correcting a few (hopefully most:) of the typos. Please let me know if you find any additional things that look weird/incorrect.

Note that the teaching starts next week in Aud 1 (VB building) (Tue 12-14 & Wed 10-12). We will start with two lectures the first week and then switch to one exercise class + one lecture per week. More info about the course will be given during the first lecture.
