The lecture today covered the following topics: discrete population models, per capita mortality rate, per capita birth or reproductive rate, Malthus' discrete equation, geometric growth/decay, simple insect model, insect model with competition (contest competition and scramble competition), classification of infraspecific competition in terms of the tail behavior of the survival function S(N) (undercompensation, exact compensation, overcompensation), nonlinear discrete equation (nonlinear version of the discrete Malthus equation).
