ENT9800 – Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights

Course content
The purpose of this course is to expose you to the dynamics of innovation, and to train you to think strategically about science based innovation and intellectual property rights. The focus is not only on industry dynamics of science based innovations, but also on the formulation and implementation of innovation strategies. The course also addresses the (dis)advantages of intellectual property rights in relationship to the development and trade of an innovation.
Learning outcome
The candidate demonstrates the ability to understand the industrial dynamics of innovation.
The candidate has acquired basic skills for innovation strategy formulation and implementation.
The candidate has acquired basic background knowledge with regard to innovation protection.
Admission to the course

If a course has limited intake capacity, priority will be given to PhD candidates who follow an individual education plan where this particular course is included. Some national researchers’ schools may have specific rules for ranking applicants for courses with limited intake capacity.

Formal prerequisite knowledge
No obligatory prerequisites beyond the minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway.
Teaching
The course is based on lecture sessions, seminars and workshops.

Examination
The course is assessed on the basis of one project paper assignment (counting 100% of the final grade).
