HME4301 – Advanced economic evaluation
Course content
The course will include the following elements:
- Types of economic evaluation methods
- Welfare economics and economic evaluation
- Discounting in economic evaluation
- Handling uncertainty in economic evaluation
- Modeling in economic evaluation
- Application of stochastic modeling and simulation models
Learning outcome
This course builds on HMM4301 (Optimal allocation of health care resources and economic evaluation of health care technologies) and provides more in-depth knowledge on some of the theoretical topics already presented in HMM4301 as well as introducing the students to statistical tools applied in this field. The aim of the course is to give the students knowledge of advanced methods for the economic evaluation of health care technologies as well as providing them with the ability to read research literature in the field and conduct a broad range of evaluation studies.

Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
Teaching
Lectures and seminars with required essays. There will also be practical examples and exercises in terms of cases.
Examination
Term paper and a 4 hour written examination
