MEDFL5510E – Logistic regression, survival analysis and Cox-regression

Course content

The aim of the course is to make the participants familiar with advanced statistical regression methods applied to clinical research and epidemiology. This will give the participants a better basis for following the increasing part of medical literature making use of such methods. The course will also be a good starting point for those who want to use these methods in their own research.

Learning outcome

The participants shall get a basic understanding in the following areas:

  • Analysis of proportions and relative risk
  • Logistic regression
  • Survival analysis and Cox regression

Admission to the course

The course is reserved for students at the Medical Student Research Programme at the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry, UiO.

Formal prerequisite knowledge

MEDFL5130E – Introductory course in statistics / MEDFL5130 – Innf?ring i statistikk or equivalent.

Knowledge of linear regression.

Teaching

The course is organized as full day teaching over four days and includes lectures, exercises and PC-labs.

The program package Stata will be used in the exercises.

You have to participate in at least 80 % of the teaching to be allowed to take the exam. Attendance will be registered.

Examination

Home exam to be submitted four weeks after the course.

Language of examination

The examination text is given in English. You may submit your response in English, Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.
