#1: The exam is open book [& other practicalities]

First, note the place: 3120 students and 4120 students are in different sections:

Do not panic if you sit down in the wrong section.

Second, the exam is open book.
That means that you can bring books with or without annotations (Arne Str?m once commented that you can even bring books you have not read, but they are certainly less likely to be of help at that stage), your own notes, photocopies of others' notes - and yes, solution notes to old exams etc. Only space constrains you.
You can also bring pocket calculators.  Often I get the question: are graphing calculators OK?  Graphing capabilities are OK yes.  I do not intend you to actually need it.

Third: Write legibly.
I already hear you go "do as I say, not as I do, huh?" - believe me, there have been written way uglier papers than my handwriting.  You need to demonstrate that you have actually done what you are supposed to (and, in case you wondered: writing the "hard" parts undecipherable is a way too old trick).
It is usually not a good idea to try to cram as much as possible into each sheet.  In the interest of time: you can delete by crossing out a part, and start on a new sheet.  It may save you time compared to tearing the whole sheet apart (leave that until the end if you want to write it cleaner).
