Note that the "sensorveiledning" for the regular exam 2010H can be found under "No seminar exercises". Other "sensorveiledninger" can be found on the course page for 2010.
About no-seminar exercises for week 47: I overlooked in the original version that the solution to exercise B is given in the sketch answers to postponed exam 2006H (can be found on the course page for 2010). Exercise B has therefore been replaced by problem 2 from postponed exam 2005H. (Note, by the way, that section a from problem 1 in postponed exam 2006H contains ? printing mistake: the correct median should be 0,693.)
Last seminar in week 46! (There is some confusion in the announced time and place of teaching). Week 47 is a no-seminar week. Exercises will be given with solutions at the end of the week.
On the lecture week 40 (October 7) I established some tools for proving consistency of estimators (i.e., using the consistency of means in iid samples and the continuity properties of probability limits). However, I did not have time to give examples on the use of these tools. You will find examples on this by reading example 1, 2 and 3 in the lecture notes to Rice chapter 5. In exercise 1 in the notes you will use the tools to prove that the sample correlation coefficient is a consistent estimator of the population correlation. I have expanded the hint in that exercise slightly.
Note that week 41 is teaching free, so there will be no lectures on Friday 14 October. Still exercises are given for that week with solutions given at the end of the week as usual.
Erling Skancke made an error on the Gini coefficient at the last seminar, and has written a correction (see under "Exercises for the seminars").
Erling Skancke has come up with a proposal of some reorganization of the seminars and asks for opinions from the students. See proposal under "Exercises for the seminars".
IMPORTANT! STATA is now accessed via Internet (and not by remote desktop as before). Log in on the webpage, kiosk.uio.no, and find Stata under the heading Stat.
Changes in the course set-up:
1) Week 41 is teaching free. Hence the lecture Friday 14 October is cancelled.
2) Seminar 2 which runs on Mondays 10:15 - 12, is cancelled. Seminar 1 and 3 remain as announced.
