For seminar #4 - and Monday's lecture:
I have posted seminar problems. Two additional things:
- There was one of you who wanted to see the information economics problem covered; if there are more of you who want to prioritize it, let me know.
- Before Monday's lecture, try to find the rank of the following matrices, or at least of A; - notice that B has the columns of A and then a couple more. A good idea here is to calculate determinants using row operations before cofactor expansion - by that you should be able to find both ranks "simultaneously". If you don't catch the method - which I will cover on Monday - then doing B might not offer any additional insight, but take a lot of time, and might be left until the lecture.
A =
/ 11 12 13 14 \
| 21 22 23 24 |
\ 31 32 33 34 /
B =
/ 11 12 13 14 15 16 \
| 21 22 23 24 25 26 |
\ 31 32 33 34 35 36 /
