This is an invitation to participate in a periodic course evaluation for ECON4350 - Growth and Investment. The periodic course evaluation is in addition to the evaluation that has already taken place earlier this semester and is somewhat more extensive. The evaluation is done on the internet and the deadline for giving your answer is December 20. Please note that there are questions concerning the exam, so preferably you should not answer this form until after your exam.

I have prepared a last Problem Set for seminar 6 (Problem Set 6) today (November 21). You are asked to prepare a short outline (disposisjon) as to how you would respond to one of the questions in the set. (This time you are free to choose what problem to answer.) I expect that these outlines are presented in class today. It's time to get ready for exam! Good luck! Also; I will delete the paper by Olav B about MSG today!

I have prepared a note on some of the issues taken up in the lectures related to multi-sectoral growth; see hand-out 4 under "Teaching material.

I was told yesterday that Bjerkholt's article about MSG was not available to you. Therefore you can download the article under the heading "OlavB-on-MSG", under "Teaching Material". (This will be removed during the next week.)

Problem set 5 for the seminar on November 14 is now available under "Seminar problems". Also: The relevant part of chapter 2 in Romer's book related to our last topic, "Optimal economic growth", is part 2A, (You may drop 2B.)

In the hand-out on "Endogenous Growth and creative destruction", there is an incorrect statement as to the impact on expected growth of a more productive reasearch technology. The last two lines in the third bullit point should be read as: ".... negative impact on expected growth. However, in opposite direction, there is the impact on the marginal cost of production. The latter effect dominates." A revised version replaces the former one.

I have prepared a note on "Explaining Real Investment: The neoclassical approach and the supplement by Haavelmo", based on the lecture yesterday. You find it under "Teaching material".

Dette tema begynner vi med neste uke, samtidig som sp?rsm?l 2 under Oppgavesett 4 gir et lite innsmett til flersektorvekst. In addition you will, under Syllabus, find a link to two chapters in Leif Johansen's book on MSG-model; chapter 1 serves as the basis for Theme No.4: Structural changes during growth.)

There is no lecture on October 5 (next week - week 40). We have seminar in week 41, on Monday October 10. The problem set will be available on October 3.

Problem Set 2 for seminar on September 26 is now available under "Seminar Problems" on the Home Page. We do it in the same way as yesterday; you should all try to work through the problems and so being able to present/solve them at the blackboard.

In the scanned version of the chapter from Acemoglu's book, two pages are unfortunately missing; pp. 112-113. I will bring copies of these two pages to tomorrow's lecture.

You should all try to solve the problems in problem Set 1 for the seminar on Monday. In the subsequent seminars we should assign a small group for presentation. We come back to taht on Monday.

Problem set 1 for seminar on September 19 is now available - see under "Seminar problems" on the Home Page. This problem set requires some standard working, and the purpose is to get you more familiar with these modeling structures.

The paper by Acemoglu, and the one by F?rsund-Vislie, can be found under "Teaching Material".

We have not been able to find another lecture room than the one we have been assigned. Hence, we have to have the lectures in that big room - Auditorium 7, on Wednesdays 1415-1600. The problem set for the first seminar on Monday September 19(week 38), will be available on the Home Page during week 36.

The first lecture will introduce "truly classical growth models" as found in Leif Johansen "A classical model of economic growth". This paper is found under "Teaching Material".

A (tentative) plan for the lectures is found under "Teaching Plan and Teaching Material. Note also that the lectures will be moved from Lecture Room 7 to a place not known yet.
