The seminar today is cancelled. Room GS3512 can accommodate about half the number of students registered for the course. So far the administration has refused to provide a bigger room for seminars. The lecture room - ES Aud. 4 - has a stated capacity of 60. It was slightly overcrowded last time. I have requested a a bigger auditorium but got no response so far. Hopefully, it will suffice also tomorrow. As stated earlier both seminar and lecture will be cancelled next week (due to absence).
The system for uploading files to the course web page is not functioning at the moment. I will post the ppt-file and a (slightly) revised text-1 file when it is working again. There will be no lecture or seminar in week 5. The lecture and seminar will get new locations. Next week willl deal with Petty, Cantillon, Quesnay and Turgot, covered in Backhouse in chs. 4 and 5. No damage if you also read ch. 3.
The first lecture will be Wednesday 19 January. The textbook by Sandmo will not arrive until February. A lecture plan has been posted. Also text extracts relevant for lecture 1. Preparation is to read the first two chapters of Backhouse. Information about exam will be given in the first lecture.
