PECOS4006 - Internship Procedures

Finding an Internship and Getting Approval

  • Students are responsible for finding their own internships at relevant institutions or applying for the internship positions listed on this page during the semester. If students are unsure about the relevance of the tasks offered by a potential host institution, they may contact The Study Administration for guidanceStudents are encouraged to explore the Career Prospects page for Peace and Conflict Studies to learn more about potential internship directions and the career paths of our alumni.
  • The internship should be equivalent to six weeks of full-time study (37.5 hours per week), must not delay study progression, and must not be paid or replace regular employees. Internships lasting longer than six weeks may be approved, however, students are responsible for ensuring that this does not conflict with their teaching commitments at UiO.
  • Once an internship is secured, an outline of the tasks and responsibilities to be undertaken must be approved by The Department of Political Science in order for the internship to qualify for PECOS4006 – Internship. This outline must be submitted by email to The Study Administration.

Contracts

  • A contract must be established between PECOS, the host institution, and the student, specifying the rights and obligations of each party during the internship.
  • In addition, a separate contract between the host institution and the student must be established. This agreement should outline the nature of the work, the duration of the internship, and any other relevant details. A copy of this contract must be submitted to The Study Administration.

  • Students must contact The Study Administration to obtain the official contract templates. Other templates will not be approved.

  • It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that all contracts are signed by the relevant parties before the internship begins.
