General instructions:
- is due in Inspera April 16 at 3:00 PM, a late submission is an automatic fail except for medical reasons
- should be between 3000 and 3500 words of length, excluding the list of references
- should develop an argument based on readings from multiple weeks of the course
- should include empirical example(s)
- can include literature not discussed in the course
- can include original empirical analysis
- must meet the formal
Typical Structure:
- Introduction with framing and main research question and argument (approx. 1 page)
- Theoretical discussion with expectations/hypotheses (approx. 3 pages)
- Methodological choices (approx. 1 page)
- Analysis and discussion (approx. 3 pages)
- Conclusion (approx. 1 page)
- References
Main criteria for assessment – substance:
- relevance of topic, narrowing down topic, research question
- demonstration of familiarity with readings from the course, accurate description of theoretical discussions and core concepts
- sound and clearly explained methodological choices
- clear link between theory and empirics, answering the research question
- conclusion which follows from the research question and theoretical and empirical discussions
Main criteria for assessment - formal aspects:
- 3000-3500 words, references excluded
- clear structure, headlines, paragraphs, page numbers
- use of references and coherent referencing style
- clarity of language
