Tip: Seminar on climate change, March 20th at 2.15 PM
Dipesh Chakarabarty, Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor of History, is visiting the Science Studies Colloquium Friday the 20th of March (next Friday), to talk about Globalization, Climate Change and Climate Justice, under the title:
Between Globalization and Global Warming: The Human Condition in the Anthropocene
In this lecture Chakrabarty looks at aspects of the science and narratives of climate change, and also at certain issues of climate justice, to highlight a tension between homocentric and zoe-centric views that marks these discussions. He will go on to develop an argument about how this working through the tension may help us reflect back on our understanding of moral dilemmas of the present times.
