Today, when the European Research Council (ERC) announced the Norwegian recipients receiving ERC Starting Grants, five of seven were from the University of Oslo.

The results of this survey on harassment and bullying in the higher education sector from the spring are clear. The survey shows that 13% of employees have felt bullied and harassed. Cases of sexual abuse have also been reported.

The students at the International Summer School showed great interest and insight, when participating in the interdisciplinary day about the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

Together with five strong partners, the University of Oslo has been awarded EU funding for a project that will generate new knowledge about transferable skills while also laying the foundation for a future university alliance.

As the first country, Norway has signed an agreement with Elsevier that ensures that Norwegian researchers can publish open access at no extra cost in most of Elsevier's journals.

On Friday, 29 March, the University Board decided to change the University's name to Apollon University. The new name is well grounded in the UiO's history and aims to strengthen the university's international position.

Professor Knut Willem Ruyter has been appointed as academic ombud at the University of Oslo for the next three years. The ombud is independent of the organisation and will, among other things, provide guidance and advice to academic employees who find themselves in difficult research ethical situations.

Harassment is not accepted at UiO. The aim of the guidelines is to prevent harassment.  

After lengthy negotiations, it is now clear that Norwegian research institutions are unable to reach an agreement with the publisher Elsevier to renew subscriptions.

On February 1, 2019, the register of employees' sideline jobs and owner interests was published and made publicly available on the UiO website.

In the new Government Platform that was presented on Thursday evening, the Government makes it clear that they want to start building a new Viking Age Museum.
