Mandate
The mandate of the UiO Committee for Student Affairs follows from the provisions of the Act relating to Universities and University Colleges (Universities and University Colleges Act) on the individual subject areas.
The basis of the committee's activities is derived from the Universities and University Colleges Act, section 5-1. The committee's decisions in cases concerning complaints about individual decisions according to § 5-1 and complaints about formal errors according to § 5-2 are final and can not be appealed.
The committee also handles cases regarding use of false documentation in connection with applications for admission or recognition, cf. section 3-7 eight paragraph of the University and University Colleges Act, cases relating to cheating, cf. §§ 4-7 and 4-8 as well as other cases regarding exclusion and expulsion, cf. §§ 4-8, 4-9 and 4-10.
It follows from the University and University Colleges Act, section § 4-13 second, third and fourth paragraphs that the committee also handles cases concerning forced termination of doctoral programmes and complaints about rejected doctoral dissertations.
