Guidelines for student associations using UiO's premises
Approved student associations, as well as program and subject committees, can use UiO's premises for free. Please read the information on the website thoroughly before applying.
General guidelines
- Only approved students associations (only in Norwegian) and the faculties' program and subject committees can use UiO's premises.
- Approved associations at UiO are defined as internal users. This means that the association can apply to use UiO's teaching rooms, meeting rooms and others premises connected to the association's activities for free.
- Student associations wishing to use UiO's premises must submit an application form at least one week before the even takes place. For larger events, the application must be submitted at least three weeks in advance.
- Even if rooms are unoccupied, they cannot be used for association activities.
- Everyone using UiO's premises must adhere to the general rules. Violation of these guidelines may result in the approval as a student association being revoked.
Security
During events on weekends and after the building's opening hours, UiO may require you to have additional security. The student association will be invoiced for the extra security.
Criteria for the application process
- Events organised by student associations should primarily be for students and employees at UiO. If an event is open to external individuals, they should not make up the majority of the guests.
- The university and SiO facilitate social, political, religious, and humanitarian activities initiated by students. Events are assessed with respect to freedom of religion and expression, as well as specific security issues that may arise.
- UiO is an open university where there should be no discrimination based on gender, religion or political beliefs. This also applies to events organised by student associations.
- Student associations may not rent out premises to individuals, organisations or commercial interests outside the university.
- Events in collaboration with external groups or with specially invited speakers require approval from the Estate Department.
- There is a general prohibition on advertising and commercial activities on university grounds.
- Voluntary student events receiving sponsorship for organising events can apply for approval from the Estate Department and exceptionally be allowed to use UiO's premises despite this prohibition.
