Internal resources and procedures for externally funded projects at MN

This and all sub pages are in the process of being translated from Norwegian. Please refer to the Norwegian version for all important matters.

Travel stipends for research stays abroad

The MN Faculty wishes to encourage its researchers to spend a research period abroad and has provided funding for travel support. Both temporary and permanent academic staff are eligible to apply.

KD positions

The MN Faculty has a large number of positions available from the Ministry of Education (Kunnskapsdepartementet).

Externally funded projects: who does what

Both researchers, local research support, project economists, the MN research section and FIADM are involved with externally funded projects from different angles. You can see who is responsible for what in this overview (Norwegian only).

    Sigma2 - guidelines for use

For all research projects, efforts should be made to apply for funding to cover use of e-infrastructure when submitting proposals for research funding. Exceptions are EU projects and other EU funding initiatives.

    Exchange rates

The MN Faculty has decided that an average exchange rate for NOK-EUR should be used for project budgets. The average rate is updated twice yearly.

    • Exchange rate from 1 July 2024 to 31 December 2024: NOK 11.5108 = EUR 1.
    • Equivalent budgeting exchange rates for other common currencies: USD = 10.64; GBP = 13.40

Please contact J?rgen Kirks?ther for further information.

    ERC - internal checklist

Internal checklist for research advisers, project economists and others, with recommendations and things to remember in the ERC application process.

    • [Update in progress. Contact the EU-team for more information]

Links to key templates and forms for the application and management of EU projects

Budget templates. Please note MN's exchange rate policy (see above).

    Timesheet templates

All employees with salary funded by EU projects must document how much they have worked for the project*. This is done somewhat differently depending on the framework programme. The documentation must be signed by the employee and the PI. Documentation of the PI's work hours is signed by the head of the department or equivalent.

[*In lump sum projects, this type of documentation is not required by the EU.]

    Horizon Europe

Employees in Horizon Europe projects with a traditional financing model (not lump sum) are required to submit sheets documenting how many days they have worked for the project (insert hours in the tabs per month and sign the summary sheet for the whole year).

    Horizon 2020

Employees working full-time on H2020 projects can document this by submitting a declaration per project period. Employees working part-time are required to submit timesheets.
