Application text

The application text may contain up to 6000 words including footnotes, using font size 11. The application may be in Bokm?l, Nynorsk or English.

The purpose of the application text is to document your systematic and targeted work towards educational quality based on four criteria derived from the principle of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). The four SoTL-criteria are:

  1. Focus on student learning
  2. Clear development over time
  3. A research-oriented approach
  4. Collegial attitude and practice

The Distinguished Educator Scheme is criteria-based, and you are expected to relate your own educational experiences and reflections to the  SoTL-criteria. A description of the SoTL criteria has been prepared to assist you during this process. This provides an indication of what the evaluation committee emphasizes when assessing your application. You are not expected to follow the description point-by-point, but you must demonstrate that you meet all four SoTL criteria. Being awarded the title of Distinguished Educator is thus based on more comprehensive criteria than those typically used for a teaching award.

Educational CV

The educational CV must be a maximum of four A4 pages using font size 11. It should provide a concise overview of your personal information, education, university pedagogical basic competence, and relevant pedagogical experience.

The content of the leader's letter of support

These are the requirements for the content of the letter of support from the applicant's formal leader:

  1. The leader must confirm that he/she is familiar with the incentives for the Distinguished Educator Scheme
  2. The leader must confirm that the unit will arrange for the applicant to be able to make use of the incentives in the event that he/she is appointed as a Distinguished Educator.
  3. The leader must confirm that the applicant has been assessed as meeting the requirements for university pedagogical basic competence.

It is important that the leader addresses these three points in his/her letter of support. Applications that lack this content in the letter of support, will be administratively rejected and will not be forwarded to the evaluation committee.

Attachments

You may add up to 8 attachments that support your application text and clarify why you should be awarded the title of Distinguished Educator at UiO.

The attachments should be collected in one or two files in pdf format.
