There are 2 types of updates with Windows 10. Read more on Microsoft's website.
1. Windows quality update
Is an incremental update of Windows products that contains bug fixes and security problem fixes, but not new features.
Windows Quality Update is rolled out monthly, also known as Patch Tuesday, and is mandatory for all Intune machines. The machine gives a notification when it is ready for updating and gives the user the opportunity to control the process, with a 4-day deadline.
2. Windows Feature Update
An update that contains new features. A feature update also includes all previous quality updates, as needed.
This update is a new operating system, i.e. a new version of Windows.
The machine will give a warning and the update looks like a normal quality update.
How often does a new version of Windows 10 come out?
Intune machines at UiO use the channel Semi-annual Channel
This means in practice 2 times a year.
Feature updates roll out 90 days after Microsoft publishes the new version.
