What is Focus Profiles?
Focus Profiles help you create a distraction-free experience so that you can focus on the tasks that are important for you. These Profiles include things like notifications and themes.
The Focus Profiles let you tie your email accounts in Outlook to Apple’s Focus Filters as well (working across of you Apple devices).
How to set up Focus Profiles
- After you have configured Outlook, a Set up Focus Profiles box will appear on top of your Inbox. Click Create profile.
- In the Create Profiles window, follow the steps to create your new profile. The profiles Work and Personal are enabled by default. Click Next.
- Select what accounts should be affected by the profiles you have enabled (Ex Work profile).
- After the profile is added, you will see it in your list of Outlook folders on the left.
Configure notifications and themes for a Focus Profile
Go to Settings... in Outlook, and choose Profiles under Personal Settings.
Choose if the setting should be for All accounts or a specific profile.
For a specific profile you can change:
- Icon
- Appearence (light or dark),
- Theme, and notifications (emails and/or calender events)
Delete a Focus Profile
Go to Settings... in Outlook, and choose Profiles under Personal Settings.
Choose the Profile you want to delete (ex Work or Personal) and click the - button.
Connect the Outlook Profiles to macOS Focus Filters
- Go to Focus preferences in System Settings... .
- Select any existing Focus mode (ex Work or Personal).
- For Work profile you typically want to Allow Some Apps to give Notifications. Click Add and choose Microsoft Outlook in the list of installed apps.
- In the Personal profile you might want to Silence Some Apps, and add Microsoft Outlook to that list.
- Finish by pressing Done.
