Select “eduroam”
“eduroam” has been the standard wireless network at UiO for some time. The networks “eduroam” and “uio” are, for all intents and purposes, the same. Because “eduroam” is our main network, “uio” will be turned off and give the user fewer and easier options.
Most computers, phones and other devices already use “eduroam”. If you want to make sure that your device uses “eduroam”, open the network control panel on your computer or device. If you do not know how to do this, contact your local IT or the support center, Houston, for assistance.
Do not use “uio”
We encourage you to change your network from “uio” to “eduroam” before June 7th. This can be done by downloading a configuration file from the Eduroam website. Connect to “eduroam” with your regular UiO username and password. If you need any help in changing networks, contact your local IT or Houston.
From June 7th all computers and devices that are still connected to the “uio” network will be signed off. This means that you will not be able to connect to the “uio” network, but will be sent straight to an info page that shows you how to set up the connection to “eduroam”.
Eduroam (educational roaming) is an international collaboration between educational institutions all over the world. The network can be logged in to by all participating institutions.
