Two-factor authentication for Apple Mail on a UiO owned Mac

The guide describes how to reauthenticate after two-factor authentication has been turned on for Apple Mail on your UiO managed Mac.

For all Macs managed by UiO, the IT department automatically changes the settings for Apple Mail, Calendar and Contacts so that two-factor authentication is required.

Once your Mac has received the new email and calendar settings, the account will be deactivated. You can see this by an icon appearing next to the e-mail account (UiO mail for username) in the left-hand column of Apple Mail.

Click the icon to reactivate your email account.

Quit Apple Mail and Calendar.

Go to System settings and Internet Accounts. Choose your UiO Exchange account.

You will then be asked to enter your password again and click OK.

You are then asked to authenticate against Azure AD (Microsoft 365). Enter the password and click Sign in.

Approve your sign-in request with a number matching in the Authenticator app on your phone, or by entering a six digit code.

Your email and calendar settings are now enabled with two-factor authentication.
