Academic freedom is a fundamental value for our University of Oslo, and for our Faculty of Theology. In several political discourses from North America to Europe, to the Middle-East South-East Asia and beyond, academic freedom is becoming a more openly contested value. This means we should all educate ourselves in what academic freedom is, what it entails, as well as why and how we can protect it.
A warm welcome back to all of you as a brand-new year is taking its first steps offering us opportunities – to choose and live the future we would like to see. There are several challenges ahead of us as a Faculty as we respond to what happens around us, nationally and internationally.
