While we are waiting for the Leganto reading list to be processed by the University library, here is a printout of the preliminary reading list — note that this includes both obligatory readings and suggested resources to be used for students’ term papers.

Prior to the first seminar meeting, you are encouraged to familiarise yourself with the MERIP special issue on Nature & Politics as this provides a good introduction to several of the themes that we shall deal with in this course.

Please also have a look at the introduction and the afterword to the volume Environmental imaginaries of the Middle East and North Africa.

(1) The schedule on the semester page has now been updated; please hold off both March 10 and April 17 as alternative dates for the seminar on activists, NGOs and social media!

Here is a simplified overview of the schedule as currently planned:
