EAS4900 – The International Project term Europe - America
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
Course content
You will, for one term, be associated with an institution in the geographical area relevant to your programme option, such as a Norwegian embassy or consulate, a company or an NGO. Read our Interpro blog!
The International Project Term will give you professional experience within your chosen field of study and geographical area. Your time will be divided between tasks for the institution and your own writing of a term paper (12-18 hours per week). Your other work tasks will be varied and give you insight into the daily workings of the institution.Your term paper will normally be of relevance to the institution’s field of activity and needs. The topic of the paper will be decided in collaboration between the institution, yourself and your supervisor at The University of Oslo. Topic and supervisor is best decided before the start of the semester.
If you fulfil the formal requirements, you may:
- Apply for an internship at a consulate or an embassy through an agreement between The University of Oslo and The ministry of foreign affairs. You may not contact an embassy or a consulate on you own - all inquiries must be directed through the programme.
- Apply for other internships announced by the programme.
- Organise an agreement on your own - with a company, an NGO or a voluntary organisation. The agreement must be approved by the programme.
Learning outcome
- Experience of working in a team in an institution abroad
- Planning, executing and completing a professional project
- Increased awareness of your own competence, in particular the connection between theory and practice
- Working independently with a minor term paper

- 1 March for the autumn semester.
Information meetings are held before both deadlines, and all applicants are highly encouraged to participate, even those who plan to organise their own internships.
