Course content
The course gives an introduction to various forms of satire in English literature.
Learning outcome
Students are expected to master various satirical texts and to develop skills in exploring them critically in light of relevant scholarship. Students are encouraged to develop skills in close literary analysis and an understanding of texts which reflects knowledge of cultural and historical contexts.

Formal prerequisite knowledge
A good proficiency in written and oral English

Teaching
The course is taught throughout the semester with 2 hours per week.
Examination
Students must turn in an essay of 5 standard pages by a stated deadline during the semester. The evaluation is based on a 4-hour written exam. The exam is graded from A to E (pass) and F (fail).
