Course content

The course deals with selected molecular, cellular and medical aspects of neurobiology.

Learning outcome

By end of the course, the students know:

  • Neurocellular anatomy and cell membrane functions
  • Intercellular signaling in the nervous system
  • Intracellular signaling
  • Neurodegeneration/neurotoxicity

Admission to the course

If a course has limited intake capacity, priority will be given to PhD candidates who follow an individual education plan where this particular course is included. Some national researchers’ schools may have specific rules for ranking applicants for courses with limited intake capacity.

Formal prerequisite knowledge

A master degree in pharmacy, biology or simular topic.

In addition, each Ph.D.-student is expected to read a number of relevant articles followed by a manditory groupsession/discussion together with all the other students.

Examination

The students are evaluated based on a home written essay.

Books, notes, articles and the internet.

Language of examination

You may submit your response in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English. If you would prefer to have the exam text in English, you may apply to the course administrators.
