Important information: Students who have delivered at least one of the 2 projects (particle physics & nuclear physics) are qualified for the final oral exam to be held on June 16th.
The last lecture was given May 24th and the slides are uploaded (OutstandingQuestions9.pdf). There will be no lectures next week due to other exams for some students. We will be available for questions or clarifications. Some information is sent to students per email: Oral exam questions and mid-term project from a couple of years ago (with short answers).
FYS3510 final oral exam will take place June 16th.
Monday 23.5 and Tuesday 24.5 we go through chapter 9: Outstanding questions and future prospects. Some reminders on important topics will be made. To be continued the following week.
An email was sent to everybody to fix the final oral exam. Those who have not answered may still fill in their preference at http://doodle.com/n4khf8z46vkicepm The current optimal date is June 16th.
Today, Monday 4.4., we continued Chapters 6. I will continue tomorrow and next week I will use at least Monday to finish the chapter on weak interactions. Farid.
Chapter 6 (WeakInteractions6) is available on course web site. As usual, solve the exercises and give feed-back about the ones you would like to be solved during the lectures.
Obligatory project, particle physics. The description can be found here http://tid.uio.no/~farido/fys3510/fys3510-PP11-Project.pdf . It was presented and discussed 3 times during the lectures. The tools to use were also demonstrated.
Visit the International Master Class page https://kjende.web.cern.ch/kjende/en/index.htm and go through the main introduction as well as the W- and Z- paths.
Chapter 5 (StrongInteraction5) is available on course web site.
Monday 14 March 2011, Particle Physics lecture by Farid: 5- Strong interaction. Give feed back about exercises (Chapter 1, 3 and Appendix B) to be solved in the class room at one of the following sessions.
Chapter 3 (ParticlePhenomenology3a and 3b) available on course web site.
Chapter 1 (BasicConcepts1a and BasicConcepts1b) and Appendix B (RelativisticKinematicsB) are now available on the course web site. They can be printed and the last 2 documents include the exercises to be solved.
