Assignment 2 is satisfying for all who have delivered it. There won't be any compulsory assignment more. However, it is expected that you work out all exercises and other items to work out in detail, which are mentioned in the slides and on the course webpages. 

You should by now have received the schedule for the final exam on June 9,10. 

Some information about the "pensum" for the exam is available here and will be updated after the last lecture:

Some selected parts of Chapter 11 (partly already done),12 and 13. 

An email is sent to you. Please check that the schedule of the oral exam made by Christine fits you and let me know in case it crashes with one of your other exams. 

There is a very good department's colloquium today at 12:15 (store fy) with title: Heavy Ion Collisions: From Big systems to Small ones. This fits perfectly the FYS3510 program and I recommend that we all follow it together before continuing the planned lecture at 13:15. Please inform each other and apologise for rather late notice.

On Thursday 16th, you will work with ATLAS data (master class kind). Please, bring your laptop to the class. Hope to see all of you there.

Don't forget to have a look at the material presented at CERN - especially for those who could not take part in the visit. Lectures given complement the Fys3510 programme. 

I hope that you all arrived safe home and had a great stay at CERN. Many students will have a mid-term exam in FYS3120 just after Easter. As agreed with the lecturer and given that we have worked hard enough while at CERN, there won't be FYS3510 lecture on Tuesday April 7th.

Today the plan was to finish Chapter 7. Due to mid-term exam in other course(s) only 3 students showed up. We discussed briefly "mid-term" evaluation. A slide can be found in the middle of the link to Chapter 7. Feedback, at the next lecture, via email, face-to-face or collected by the students contact, is highly appreciated. 

Read through it and a discussion will follow during the lectures this week.

Those who have not yet provided the information asked for are urged to do so by Friday this week.

The CERN visit is now fixed: Monday 23 - Thursday 26 March 2015. Student following FYS3510 and FYS4560 are welcome. Please, provide the following information very soon: Name (as in passport), email address, birthday. 

I would appreciate if one volunteer student would collect the list and sends it to me. Than you very much.
