Course content

Advanced plant physiology. The emphasis of the course is on transport and translocation of water and solutes, energy flow, metabolism, growth and development and interaction between plants and environment.v

Learning outcome

The aim is to give the students increased knowledge of metabolism, physiology and structure of plants together with a better understanding of regulation of growth and development and influence of environment.

Admission

PhD candidates from the University of Oslo should apply for classes and register for examinations through Studentweb.

If a course has limited intake capacity, priority will be given to PhD candidates who follow an individual education plan where this particular course is included. Some national researchers’ schools may have specific rules for ranking applicants for courses with limited intake capacity.

PhD candidates who have been admitted to another higher education institution must apply for a position as a visiting student within a given deadline.

Teaching

This course will be given every autumn and will consist of 40 hours lectures, 20 hours seminars and 40 hours obligatory laboratory work.

Examination

Approved participation and laboratory journals. One laboratory excercise to be written as a scientific paper. Presentation of two review papers to the class. One written examination at the end of the semester (3 hours). Pass/fail.
