Best,
Dear students,
I am doing research on a learning/teaching method called Team-Based Learning. During the break in today's lecture, I would like to give a five min introduction to this method and then get your opinion about it through some multiple-choice questions. Your feedback will be very helpful!
See you in Aud. Smalltalk,
Regards, Amir
Dear Students,
Please note that starting from next lecture (October 4) your lectures with Roman (Communication Paradigms, Peer-to-Peer Systems, Paxos and Distributed Transactions, and A Hodgepodge of Distributed Systems: Web-based, cloud, IoT, and others) will take place physically on OJD, Aud Smalltalk.
You can also see the updated information on the course timeplan.
Best,
Dear Students,

In order to provide best teaching experience for you, we want to provide a repetition of the Time and Coordination lecture on Monday (September 27th) from 12:15-14:00 digitally on Zoom.
On the same day (Monday September 27th), Group meeting from 14:15-16:00 will be replace by lecture on replication in distributed systems. The lecture will take place physically on OJD, Seminarrom Logo.
Releasing the second programming assignment will also be postponed to October 4th (next group meeting)&nb...
Hi,
In response to the requests we received from you, we are extending the deadline of the first programming assignment for one week! (Submission deadline Sep. 28th, Presentation deadline Oct. 1st)
If you have already submitted the assignment, you have the option to take the extra time and re-submit. You can also book a presentation time any day before Oct. 1st. However, each group can only present once and one version of the assignment.
Please be aware that the schedule for the 2nd assignment will remain as before.
Good Luck!
Hi,
New dataset and input files are uploaded in the course website. These new files will overcome the problem of musicIDs with different Artist IDs.
Hi all,
There is an error in the Dataset file of the first programming assignment. Same musicIDs appear in the dataset but with different genres or artistIDs.
This was a mistake caused by not a very accurate random generator. I forgot to take into the account that the MusicID-ArtistID-Genre should be unique.
You can assume that this tuple (MusicID-ArtistID-Genre) will be unique. Meaning that when answering queries, you can only consider the first unique tuple you find for a specific musicID/Genre. One other alternative would be to query through all IDs and answer the queries. Both scenarios will be accepted because of the mistake that happened in the dataset.
Best of Lucks.
Hi,
Just a reminder that you should send your assignment groups by August 31 to the TA via email. Do not forget to cc your group-mates in the email. You can use some time in next group meeting or mattermost to get to know each other and form your groups.
If you cannot form a group, you should declare it in an email to the TA that you are looking for a group and would like to be randomly assigned.
Best,
Dear students,
Starting from August 30, our group meetings will take place at OJD, Seminarrom Logo until October 4.
Hope to meet you soon.
Dear Students,
The classroom dedicated for our group meetings does not have enough capacity for all who registered for the course.
Therefore, our first group meeting on Monday August 23, will take place digitally via Zoom.
Information about the zoom meeting ID can be found on the course website on Timeplan section.
We will let you know about any updates on the venue for next group meetings as soon as we hear more from IFI.
