An alternative to buy this year supplementary reading is to read it on the screen

Some information from Tom Lyche:
I am extending the lecture notes from last year and the book the student used in the first linear algebra course should suffice. For the more advanced parts of the course I recommend
Carl D. Meyer, Matrix Analysis and Applied linear Algebra, Siam, 2000.
This book will be for sale in the bookstore.
If you want to start reading please check the lecture notes from last year. You'll find it at

The 2006 lecture notes will be ready for downloading during the semester Welcome to the first lecture on August 28
