Course content
It is an objective to ensure that excursions and teaching in the field take place in safe surroundings. You will receive information on what HSE requirements are placed upon you as a student at the University of Oslo when teaching involves excursions or fieldwork.
Learning outcome
After completing the course you should have the following knowledge:
- Routines and procedures for fieldwork.
- Roles and responsibilities.
- Insurance arrangements.
- Use of risk assessments, appropriate clothing and protective equipment, and various communication aids.
- First aid in the field.
Admission
MNHMS0015FS is compulsory for:
- New students at the following Bachelor programs:
- Biology
- Geosciences: Geology, Geophysics and Geography
- New students at the following Master's programs:
- Biology
- Geosciences
- Other students taking one or more courses that have MNHMS0015FS as a compulsory prerequisite.

Teaching
Teaching includes a one 45 minutes lecture at the beginning of each semester. Participation is required to pass the course.
The course uses Fronter.
Access to teaching
A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.
Examination
To pass MNHMS0015FS you must have obtained and approval for having participated in the teaching. You are responsible for ensuring that your attendance is registered at the lecture.

Evaluation
The course is subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students to participate in a more comprehensive evaluation.
This is a compulsory course and student ??attendance is recorded. Illness or other valid reasons of absence must be documented by a medical certificate or other equivalent documentation. Medical certificates can be delivered to MN-studieinfo during opening hours or sent to the office by post. Remember to state which course and for which date the medical certificate applies to.
