I have published a recording in tuesday's lecture where I go through the second compulsory exercise. I have also published the solution on the course webpage here. This is the last recording I publish.
I will be on zoom in the time of tuesday's lecture, and will also get back to you with a time on zoom closer to the exam.
?yvind
I have published a recording for tuesday's lecture where I go through the exam from 2017. This is the fourth and last exam I will go through. Note that previous exams can also be found here.
The next two tuesdays I will be available on zoom in the time of the lecture, zoomlink can be found as usual in the "timeplan". I will also set up a time in june, so that you can get help closer to the exam.

In general, the following guidelines apply in courses at the Department of Mathematics:
- The examination lasts 4 hours. In addition, you will have an extra 30 minutes to scan and upload your PDF.
- All examination aids are allowed (e.g. books, online resources, scientific programming tools, etc.).

I have published a recording for tomorrow's lecture where I go through last year's exam. I will again be available on zoom in the time of the lecture tomorrow, zoomlink can be found in the "timeplan".
I have corrected oblig 2. Those of you who did not pass has 20. may as new deadline.
?yvind
I have published tomorrow's lecture in the "timeplan", where I go through the exam from 2019. I will also be available for questions in the time of tomorrow's lecture, zoomlink in the "timeplan". Feel free to ask me about the second compulsory exercise, which has deadline on thursday.
Next week I will go through the exam from last year.
?yvind
I have posted a recording where I go through the exam from 2018 in tomorrow's lecture. I plan to go through one exam each of the following tuesdays as well. There will be no recordings for the thursdays.
I will be available for questions during tomorrow's lecture time (1415-1600) on zoom: zoomlink can be found in the "timeplan". Feel free to ask about the second compulsory exercise as well.
?yvind
I have just published oblig 2 on the course web page here. I will also be available for questions during tomorrow's lecture time (1415-1600) on zoom: zoomlink can be found in the "timeplan".
I have also published thursday's lecture, which is a short lecture about an implementation of the simplex algorithm which I just posted on the course web page. This is not directly exam relevant, but may still be very interesting for those of you interested in the implementational aspects of simplex. The "timeplan" contains both a link to the simplex implementation and the pdf which proves the needed formulas.
After this week we have gone through the entire syllabus. From next week I will focus on exams, and will use one week for each exam over the last three years.
?yvind
I have published lectures for this and next week. In next thursday's exercise session I go through the first compulsory exercise, and I have also published a pdf for this on the course webpage here.
On tuesday I will also be available on zoom for questions during the time of the lecture. Zoomlink can be found in the "timeplan".
?yvind
Tomorrow, tuesday, in the lecture time 1415-1600, I will be available on zoom for questions for those of you struggling with the second delivery of oblig 1 (deadline this thursday). You may also ask any other questions from the course. zoomlink follows below.

Recordings for today''s and next thursday's exercise sessions can be found in the "timeplan". A recording for tuesday's lecture will be made available tomorrrow. On tuesday I will be available for questions on zoom at the time of the lecture (but not today). You will find the zoomlink in the "timeplan" as well.
?yvind
As you may have heard, teaching will from now on be digital only, at least until easter. I will publish recordings for thursday and next week as soon as possible.
Those of you who did not pass on the first attempt on oblig 1: You have been given a second deadline in canvas (25th march at 1430). In the lecture time on tuesday, I will be available for questions on zoom (zoomlink will be published in the "timeplan", and I will post a reminder message).
?yvind
I have corrected oblig 1 for everyone. Those who you who did not pass will get a second attempt, with deadline thursday 25. march at 1430 (I will shortly open for this in canvas). I will also be available in a zoom session for questions in this regard, probably at tuesday 23. march from 1415 to 1600 (at the time of tuesday's lecture, which probably will be a recording). When everyone have handed in their second attempts, I will post a solution to oblig 1, where I will comment on some of the errors in the deliveries.
Tomorrow's lecture has already been posted in the "timeplan" as a recording. Thursday's exercise session will probably be recorded live in the auditorium (if I am allowed). Nevertheless, a recording will be posted.
?yvind
I planned to be at blindern for today's lecture, but will have it on zoom only. I will try to publish a recording of it before the session. If so I can be available on zoom for questions about the oblig instead from 1215 to 1400. Use the link in the timeplan, or in the previous message.
?yvind
I have posted a recording of tomorrow's lecture in the "timeplan". So no lecture at blindern tomorrow. Instead I suggest that we use the two hours of tomorrow's lecture as "panic-help" on zoom for oblig 1, for those who need help from me on zoom. Link can be found in the "timeplan" and below. The same link will also be used for thursday's exercise session, which I plan to have at blindern. Link for this can also be found in the "timeplan".

As mentioned, we will attempt to have tomorrow's exercise session in the auditorium at Blindern. At most 20 of us can be present in total, so meet up only if necessary (for instance if you have questions). The session can be followed live on zoom as well (see zoomlink below). A recording of the session will also be published as usual.
It should now be possible to hand in the first compulsory exercise in canvas. I have also published a latex template you can use for your delivery here. There you see for instance how you can align items in a dictionary nicely (takes some practice).

It is now allowed for the smallest courses to have lectures at the campus, at long as there are less than 20 participants. I suggest that we keep tomorrow's lecture digital only anyway, since I had already made a recording of that (it is now published in the "timeplan"). I will attempt to have thursday's exercise session in the auditorium on Blindern live however. I will post a zoomlink in the timeplan for this, so that those of you who don't go to campus can still watch live from home. Lectures may quickly go digital-only again after this du to the current pandemic situation (so physical lectures may be cancelled on short notice), but I think it is good for some of you at least to have this one opportunity to meet at campus, in particular with the deadline of the first compulsory exercise approaching.
?yvind
I have posted solutions to thursday's exercises in the "timeplan". Some of the exercises were a bit longer and more difficult than previous ones. You can aks me questions about them in the zoom session I will have again on thursday from 1315-1400 (zoomlink below). On thursday, feel also free to ask questions about the first compulsory exercise.

I have just published the first compulsory exercise here. I can answer questions about this on the weekly zoom-meetings we have on thursdays. I have also published tuesday's lecture in the "timeplan": Teaching will be digital next week as well.
?yvind
If any of you are interested in forming study groups, to discuss the curriculum or exercises with other students, I suggest that you show up at thursday's zoom session (see previous message) or write to me by email, so that I can help to connect interested students. This may be a good idea if you struggle working things out on your own all the time, in this (digital) time of the pandemic.
?yvind
Thursday 1315-1400 I have another zoom meeting where you can ask questions from the book or the exercises. I will this meeting every thursday at the same time, as long as teaching is digital only. Zoomlink follows below.
I think I now have resolved the sound issue from some of my lectures, so that the sound in upcoming lectures should be better. Thursday's recording of the exercise session has been published with improved sound.
I will publish the first compulsory exercise within the next week.
The lecture plan has now bee updated for the rest of the semester.

I will be available for questions between 1315 and 1400 today, as I did last week. zoomlink follows below.
The sound in my last recordings hasn't been that good: The microphone in my headset stopped working, so that I only had access to the built-in microphone in my computer, which doesn't eliminate background noise. I hope this issues is fixed from next thursday' recording.
The recording for tuesday's lecture has already been posted. This concerns mostly chapter 6 in the book. This material may seem rather technical, as a procedure involving many formuals is developed. The standard dictionary approach is much simpler to apply by hand in that formulas need not be remembered. It is just important to notice that the two procedures perform the same tasks and pivots.

I have now published exercises for several more weeks in the "timeplan". If you want to stay ahead, you may also want to look at "a mini-introduction to convexity", which we will get to in a couple of weeks. You can find a link to this under teaching resources, or if you log into leganto under "pensum/litteraturliste".
