Relevant background

The main previous knowledge that we require is covered in the two courses STK1100 and STK1110 which covers basic probability theory and statistical inference methods. The list of formulas for these two courses, given here, describes the main topics needed (and can also be used as a reference list). Also the textbook for these courses,  Devore, Berk, Carlton (2021) can be useful, in particular chapter 12. In addition, we will throughout the course use different results from linear algebra (mainly different types of vector/matrix manipulations).
