Hi, I've written up the notes I used for the first lecture on numerical quadrature, in case you want to read them. See "Quadrature 1" on the schedule.
The date for the exam will be either Thurs. 9 June or Fri. 10 June
There will be three assignments in total, which you need to
pass to qualify for the exam.
I've made Monday 9 May the deadline for Assignment 3.
Please send your work to devilry.ifi.uio.no again.
Thanks,
Mike
Please deliver your assignments by uploading them to
"devilry.ifi.uio.no"
Thank you.
The computer exercise 4.1.1 is a bit imprecise.
In 1(a), first part, you should plot |f(x)-p(x)| with the y-axis logarithmic.
In 1(a), second part (random perturbations) you should plot |q(x) - p(x)|,
where q is the "perturbed polynomial", the polynomial that interpolates
the perturbed f_i values.
In 1(b) just plot p(x), but make a separate plot for the Chebyshev and equidistant cases.
Welcome to the first lecture (only 1 hour) on Tuesday.
We will usually have the lectures on Mondays (2 hours)
but I have to cancel Monday 18 because of a PhD defence.
