Two-factor authentication Apple Mail on iPhone/iPad

If you use an iPhone or iPad owned and administrated by UiO, please follow this guide to activate two-factor authentication for Apple Mail and Calendar.

Step-by-step guidance

  1. Go to Settings and down to Mail.
  2. In Mail, select Accounts, and click on the settings you have set up to use email and calendar at UiO.
  3. Delete this account entry.
  4. In Accounts under Mail, select Add account.
  5. Select Microsoft Exchange.

  6. Enter your e-mail address in the form username@uio.no. Give the account a suitable description, such as Exchange or UiO. Click Next.

  7. Click Sign in to let Microsoft automatically detect your Exchange setup.

  8. A Microsoft window appears. Make sure it says your username@uio.no and click Next.
  9. Enter your UiO password.

  10. Approve sign-in request by entering the number you see in the Authenticator app (number matching), or by writing in a six digit code.

  11. A link is made between your e-mail and calendar setup with Apple Internet Accounts, so that two-factor authentication can be required. Click Continue.

  13. Remove the checkmark if there are services / applications you do not want to use. Finish by clicking Save.

  14. Apple Mail and Calendar will now download all email and calendar data before the applications are ready to use.
