The master’s degree programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship gives you the opportunity to choose between different tracks. You will find the courses that are included in the master’s degree below.
The first table shows the courses you are offered if you study in Oslo, the second one shows the courses offered if you choose to include Gründerskolen in Houston as a part of your degree, the third table provides an overview of the programme structure at Bergen University College.
Please note that admission to Gründerskolen (as a part of the UiO track) and the Bergen University college track both require proficiency in Norwegian language.
Our programme is a full-time master’s programme where we expect all students to attend all of the lectures. There is a mandatory 80% attendance requirement for most of our courses. Generally, the courses in the programme build on each other, therefore part time studies will delay your progression considerably, and is not necessarily possible.
You are expected to specialize further within the field of your bachelor studies in the first and the third semester. You will choose two courses at 4000- and 5000-level offered by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science within the subject area from your bachelor degree.
In the final part of the programme, you will be writing a 30-credit Master’s thesis. This thesis should be based on your bachelor's degree, and should be an independent scientific thesis with relevance to the context of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Gründerskolen
Students with admission to the regular track at UiO, have the opportunity to choose Gründerskolen(Spring/Summer) as a part of their programme. Qualified students admitted to the master programme will be given the opportunity to apply for Gründerskolen during the first semester of the master's programme, and will be given a priority in the admission process.
If you choose to do the internship period abroad with Gründerskolen, you will need to attend ENT4300 - Entrepreneurship and internationalisation to receive the Gründerskolen certificate. This is a complementary course.
Please note that only students fulfilling the Norwegian language requirements can choose Gründerskolen as a part of this master's programme.

ENT4300 – Entrepreneurship and Internationalisation - 5 ECTS credits is part of Gründerskolen.
MSc in Entrepreneurship – Western Norway University of Applied Sciences
The University of Oslo co-operates with Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) in Bergen for a separate track of the Entrepreneurship master. These students have a slightly modified programme, and includes attendance to Gründerskolen (ENT4190 and ENT4200 in the table below). Through Gründerskolen the students go on a 10 week exchange in Houston for an internship in a start-up and to study at Rice University. The course ENT4300 – Entrepreneurship and Internationalisation - 5 ECTS credits is also a part of Gründerskolen.
The programme at HVL is taught in Norwegian. Applicants for this track are not required to meet the English requirements, but must fulfil the requirements for Higher Education Entrance Qualification (generell studiekompetanse). Form of tuition and assessment
Like most other university studies, much of the tuition in the Master’s programme will include lectures, casework, seminars and group work. However, in addition to traditional forms of tuition, the programme highlights empirical learning through two internships.
You will be assessed on the basis of written and oral exams, other forms of written reports such as individual papers, team based project reports and case analysis. Both individual and group assessment methods are employed.
It is required that you have a tuition attendance rate of at least 80% at the University of Oslo and while studying at joint venture universities abroad.
Recognition of Master courses from former education
If you are admitted to the Masters Programme and you have completed Master courses outside the University of Oslo, you may apply to have these courses recognised as part of your degree. Please contact the Centre for Entrepreneurship for more information.
