Dear All.
We went approximately halfway in our course. Can you please participate in the midterm evaluation? I plan to dedicate some time during the lecture today for making this evaluation. If you are not attending the lecture today, you still have a chance to deliver your evaluation into the FYS3410 box at the Front Office at the Department of Physics. The evalution form is available from the FYS3410-website. Thanks in advance.
WR,
Andrej.
Dear All.
Please note that when integrating the total energy in 1D one might plug in DOS(omega) that is not simply equal to DOS(k), but instead DOS(k)dk/domega, even DOS(k) is a constant in 1D. Assuming the temperature is low, dk/domega reduces to 1/velocity of sound. All in all, there is one extra constant to remember about.
WR,
Andrej.
Dear All.
Exercises 2, 3, 6 and 7 were selected for mandatory delivery within Module I. The delivery deadline is on Tuesday, the 7th of March, at noon.
WR,
Andrej.
Dear All.
There are no slides published in the course webpage related to the lecture earlier today because there were no slides used. The major topic was the derivation of the heat capacity in 1D (including the integration of the DOS and Planck distribution product). Please note that an addition exercise related to the thermal properties in1D was added to the practical assignments.
WR,
Andrej.
Dear All.
Exercises 1, 4, and 7 were selected for mandatory delivery within Module I. The delivery deadline is on Tuesday, the 7th of February, at noon.
WR,
Andrej.
I have recently circulated a message to all the course attendees I am aware of. If you have NOT received a message from me and intend to follow this course, please drop am email to me, so that I may add your email to my list.
Thanks in advance,
Andrej.
The practical assignments to deal with - as a minimum - in particular for the Module I are available from the course website. In addition to these assignments, if you want, you can explore those provided in the corresponding chapters of the book.
As explained initially at the lectures, the mandatory assignments to deliver to me, will be selected from the practical assignments published at the course website. The choice is done by me and I'll make it public in some advance before the delivery deadline. Specifically, for the Module I, the delivery deadline is set to 15:00CET on the 6th of February and the selection of the mandatory part of assignments will be published on the 3rd of February after the practical assignment session finished. Thus, a reasonable strategy for successful deliveries might be to start working with all practical assignment as soon as possible also benefiting from the synchroni...
