MBV9240 – Biochemical mechanisms in intracellular transport
Course description
Schedule, syllabus and examination date
Course content
The course deals with membrane structure, transport of proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), through the Golgi apparatus and out of the cell; chemical modification of proteins, different forms of endocytosis and intracellular transport; factors that regulate intracellular transport and fusion with different organelles; newly discovered pathways in the cell.
Learning outcome
The course will provide the students with knowledge corresponding to what is currently known about the subjects covered.
Admission
PhD candidates from the University of Oslo should apply for classes and register for examinations through Studentweb.
If a course has limited intake capacity, priority will be given to PhD candidates who follow an individual education plan where this particular course is included. Some national researchers’ schools may have specific rules for ranking applicants for courses with limited intake capacity.
PhD candidates who have been admitted to another higher education institution must apply for a position as a visiting student within a given deadline.
Prerequisites
Recommended previous knowledge
MBV3010 – Advanced cell biology (continued), MBV3030 – The biochemistry of proteins (discontinued), MBV4030 – Laboratory methods in cellular biology (continued) or corresponding knowledge
Overlapping courses
- 10 credits overlap with BIOS5913 – Molecular mechanisms of intracellular transport
- 10 credits overlap with BIOS9913 – Molecular mechanisms of intracellular transport
- 10 credits overlap with MBV4240 – Biochemical mechanisms in intracellular transport (continued)
